Our challenge

Storing large volumes of recycled material dry and separated

ABR (All Belgian Recycling), part of the De Meuter group, wanted to cover large concrete bays at its site in Grimbergen so that substantial volumes of soil and recycled material could be stored and processed in dry conditions. The challenge: achieving very large spans over robust concrete structures without compromising on ventilation, accessibility or cost efficiency.

Our solution

Arched roof structures with translucent film cladding

Vermako built more than 20,000 m² of cover with strong arched roof structures and translucent film cladding. With spans of more than 30 metres, the existing concrete bays could be fully covered. The partly open sides provide natural ventilation, so stored soil dries better and is easier to process. The chosen solution combines robustness, scalability and a cost-effective execution, fully tailored to the requirements of the client, De Meuter.
